Free Flu Shots offered by Neodesha Healthcare Providers

Neodesha's healthcare providers have extra influenza (Flu) vaccine they would like to share with the community. This year only, Neodesha's medical community is offering a free flu shot clinic, Saturday, January 6, 2007, to those ages 4 and up who have not received their vaccine. Wilson Medical Center's Conference Room will be the host site and staff will be on hand to administer the vaccine from 10am to 2 pm or while supplies last.

It is not too late to get a flu shot! The peak flu season is December through March. About 2 weeks after vaccination, antibodies develop that protect against influenza virus infection. Getting vaccinated now will still protect you this flu season. Those who should consider being vaccinated are individuals at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because they live with or care for those at high risk and anyone who wants to reduce the chance of getting flu. Every year in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on average 5 to 20 percent of the population get the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications and about 36,000 people die from flu.

The Free Flu Shot Clinic is sponsored by SEK Primary Care Associates, LLC, partnership of DeAnna Vaughn, M.D. ; Amy Cunningham, D.O. ; Tawnya Greve, ARNP; and physicians F. Allen Moorhead, M.D.; Brad Barrett, M.D.; Bert Chronister, M.D. ; and Wilson Medical Center.
