The Wilson Medical Diabetes Management Center is here to help you navigate the ins and outs of a diabetes diagnosis. Monthly classes are available.
Program education covers the following topics:
• Diabetes overview

• Prevention, detection and treatment of acute and chronic complications
• Foot, skin and dental care

Most insurance plans, including Medicare, provide a benefit that covers our diabetes education classes. The hospital can verify your benefits prior to attending the first class. A referral from your physician is required prior to enrolling in our program.
Classes are taught by Rachael Shinkle, a registered dietician and certified diabetes educator. Rachael has a unique skill set and serves as essential support for patients and providers. She believes her role is both teacher and coach, giving you the knowledge and skills you need to understand your diabetes in the context of your personal life. She will work with you to set-and meet-behavior change goals to improve your health.
