Bringing Specialist to Rural Southeast Kansas

Telemedicine is the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via electronic communications to improve a patient's clinical health status.

Telemedicine allows residents to have access to specialized services that are usually not offered in rural settings.

Given specialty physician shortages in the rural area - telemedicine has a unique ability to increase service to new patients.

It uses two-way video, email, smart phones, wireless tools and other forms of telecommunication technology.
