Wilson Medical Center Receives QHR Materials Management Award

Every year QHR recognizes hospitals which have demonstrated excellence in supply chain improvement. This year Joyce Crawford, Materials Manager, on behalf of WMC, received 4th place "Supply Chain Improvement Award" presented at QHR's Material's Resource Forum.

Materials management plays an important role in managing supply costs.

Twenty to thirty percent of a hospital's operating budget is typically supply expense. As a result, managing the costs within the expense area and optimizing the tools available are of vital importance.

To determine this award, QHR looks at four supply expense benchmarks-supply expense per adjusted patient day, supply expense per adjusted admission, supply expense as a percentage of net revenue and supply expense as a percentage of total operating expense. "It has taken a great effort on all departments to be able to attain an achievement like this," Crawford said. "I would like to thank everyone in making it possible for WMC to receive this award."
