Biography:

"I grew up loving puzzles and doing them with my grandma. As an internal medicine doctor, I viewed the human body as a large puzzle that I enjoy solving - it is all part of a whole-but influenced by every piece," stated Tonya Hill, M.D. "I believe in treating the entire patient, of addressing every piece of wellbeing- physical, mental and spiritual aspects."

Dr. Tonya Hill is an important piece of the provider puzzle for Wilson Medical Center - Neodesha Family Medicine. Hill expanded her practice, the Drs. Morris and Hill Medical Clinic in Fredonia, Kansas, to join providers Dr. Bert Chronister and Toni Barnhart, Nurse Practitioner, at their current practice-Neodesha Family Medicine- on Wednesdays. She expanded her practice to bridge the gap in healthcare that the Fredonia and Neodesha communities are facing. With the changes in healthcare, her goal is to be progressive in her practice and still provide excellent patient care. Hill's vision is for these two regions of Wilson County to begin collaborating more and to help keep them strong. By providing care in two locations, it allows her to better serve her patients in both communities.

"I have always loved seeing patients, making them my priority, and treating them as family," said Hill. "Medicine is not a job, it is my life and very personal. I look forward to serving Fredonia, Neodesha, and the surrounding area."

Finding the Ultimate Puzzle in Life- the Medical Field
Coming from a healthcare family, Hill initially chose nursing, graduating from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked two years at a local hospital but felt she could contribute more to the community by furthering her education and becoming a physician. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from Saba University School of Medicine in the Netherlands-Antilles and completed her Internal Medicine residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She returned to her hometown of Fredonia twelve years ago to be closer to family and to provide care to the community where she was raised. It was then that Hill –along with her uncle, Terry Morris, M.D., - started the practice known as the Dr's Morris and Hill Medical Clinic.

Internal Medicine Specialization - solving puzzling diagnostic problems
Hill is a board-certified Internal Medicine provider who is specially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems. She is trained to handle severe chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses may strike at the same time. "I chose internal medicine as my specialty because I enjoyed solving and investigating difficult cases," stated Hill. "It also intrigued me due to its focus on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease. I believe in treating the entire patient and addressing not only their physical wellbeing but their mental and spiritual aspects as well."

The Puzzle Piece of Giving- Mission trip
Values of Rural Kansans cultivated another piece of the puzzle in Hill's life - serving and giving back. Hill decided to not only share her passion for medicine at home but abroad. A mission trip to Jamaica allowed her to immerse herself into another culture - to provide much needed care, as well as a time for reflection, and spiritual rest.

The Puzzle Piece of Home
"I was born and raised in Wilson County and loved helping my grandpa on the farm," said Hill. "I learned very early the expectation that hard work brought success in life. Fredonia is where I grew up, love; and have chosen to raise my family. I have been married fourteen years, and have one daughter who loves llamas and narwals. My hobbies include reading, traveling, doing puzzles yard work, and of course shopping!!!"
